Dear Daughters, It is now time to
celebrate both our independence and dependence, on God that is. As we
reflect on the meaning of Independence Day, let us not forget that our
forefathers regularly turned to God for guidance and even declared days
of prayer and fasting for repentance and days of prayer and thanksgiving
when he blessed our nation. |

In today’s society we are asked to separate the two, even though our currency, the strongest in the world, says in God we trust. Do you trust God for all things? Do you stand up for what you believe, even though the world tells us to look the other way? If not, ask God to guide you in this area. In this nation we are 6 million Christians strong. We should be shaping the country, not settling for what transpires. How can you make a difference? First and foremost we can make a difference by engaging in daily prayer for our nation and for our leaders. Also, by choosing to take a careful look at where we spend our time and money. Does it support Christian values or those of a wayward nation? You can make a difference, one prayer and one decision at a time. May God bless our Nation with godly, capable leaders who seek direction through prayer and the study of His word. FHS, Carole |

Dear Daughters, This month’s message contains spiritual information discerned from the Province IV Summer Retreat. Enjoy! GRITS All Southern girls, even transplants, are familiar with grits. Whether you love them or hate them or can take or leave them, you will always remember the word as an acronym for living a spiritual life. G uard you heart, mind and spirit from things that move ahead of God. R e-up for service to your Lord. Ministry never stops, don’t give up. I mitate Christ through study and prayer- seek the mind of Christ. T rust by recognizing your need to depend on God via faith & knowledge. S urrender by submitting and obeying. Change should do to want to Daughters in Prayer Prayer should be focused on the spread of Christ’s Kingdom in the world. Prayer builds intimacy with Christ. Everything we do must be bathed in prayer. Prayer changes circumstances. Luke 1:26. Nothing is impossible to us with God. Think of the Mary Miracle: All we have to do is say yes. To say yes we must sometimes adjust our life to accommodate God’s miracle. To do this we need two qualities. Faith that God is who he says he is and obedience which is a willingness to adjust our life to accomplish God’s work. There is only one person to please; God. Will you take the risk? Every morning give yourself a spiritual check up and make sure you are on track. Daughters are called to:
First challenge: Ask God to place a name on your heart of a person that needs salvation. Pray for wisdom, guidance and discernment concerning that person and for opportunities to lead them to Christ. (They may be sitting in the pew next to you.) Do you know that only one third of the world’s population knows Christ as their Savior? If each of us witnessed to two people the world could be saved. Second challenge: Ask God to place a name on your heart of women in our Parish who would make a good Daughter. Invite them to an activity or a meeting as your guest. Third challenge: When you get a call for intercessory prayer for someone you don’t know well, ask if they know Christ as their Savior. If not, our prayers should focus on the need and the salvation of that individual. Fourth challenge: Let’s include major church and state events on our prayer list and in our prayer chains. Examples include praying for vestry meetings, elections, church projects etc. Prayer is powerful; let’s use it to its full potential.

Dear Daughters, September is probably best known for Labor Day and that transition from summer vacations back to school and work. Work can be something you do outside the home, inside the home or as part of your church family. Do you take much time to think about your mission at work? I didn’t until I read a devotional about it. You may think that work is just something you do because you have to make a living or take care of your family. But, work is much more than that. It is your mission field. Regardless of what you do, virtually everyone works in some kind of community. If there are people around you there is a mission field. Now, this does not mean that you should be witnessing to everyone all the time or even that you have a pre-set strategy to winning your co-workers to Christ. It does mean that you need to pay attention to relationships because it is through relationships that our mission to show the Christ within us is carried out. Peter says we should always be ready to explain our Christian hope should anyone ask us about it (1 Peter 3:15). Are your prepared? Our mission strategy should be to love others enough that they will see and ask about our hope in Christ. Maybe this is the true mission of our lives and we just happen to get paid at the same time? So this month, everyday when you go to what you call work, be a witness for Him through simply being a loving, hope-filled Christian in relationship with those who don’t yet know the love of Christ. This is something we call can do.
