DOK Role
in the Election of the Bishop Coadjutor,
The Rev. Samuel Johnson (John) Howard
One of the most
significant services of prayer requested of the Daughters of the King in the
Diocese of Florida was made by our Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Stephen Jecko.
He asked that
the Order pray during the year-long process of the search and election of a
Bishop Coadjutor for the Diocese. Every chapter prayed special prayers and
each chapter was given a specific time slot to pray intensely for the
process. In addition, on the day of the election, May 16, Daughters held a
day long prayer vigil in the chapel at St. John's Cathedral in Jacksonville.
For details about the
election see the
Diocese of
Florida website.

Chiefland Installation
On May 18, 2003 a new
chapter was instituted at St. Alban's Episcopal Church, Chiefland, in our
Diocese. In an impressive service, The Dame Julian of Norwich Chapter
admitted 14 new women to the Order. The president of the chapter and
trainer, Marty Ooms, was accepted as a transfer member from the Diocese of
South West Florida.
Diocesan
President, Carole Hartunian and Diocesan chaplain, the Rev. Canon Pete Wait
officiated at the installation. Several other Daughters from around the
Diocese were also present. The DOK banner (right) was presented to the
chapter as a gift from the St. Catherine of Sienna Chapter in High Springs,
Florida. It was made by Miriam Otera (shown in the photo). |
