Dear Bishop Howard:
It is with
much respect and love that I write this letter to you. I, as president
of the Daughters of the King of the Diocese of Florida, and the
Order pledge our allegiance to you. We are here to support you and
pray for you daily.
I talked briefly with the Archdeacon a few weeks ago about the Daughters
of the King meeting together. I don't know if I properly explained
my wishes. My request is to have the Daughters who have left our
church be able to come to our assemblies and retreats.
We took an oath to pray, to serve and to evangelize to mankind.
This is our only mission. When it comes to the Daughters and our
work, we have no dislikes, no discriminations, and no prejudices
against anyone. We realize that we all are sinners. We also realize
that we all are children of God -children who have different habits,
attitudes, tastes, and moral standards. The beautiful part is that
God loves us all and He commands us to love one another. We have
a moral and spiritual obligation to do this. As Daughters, we uphold
this obligation with our hearts, minds, and spirits.
There are Daughters who have left our church to become members of
others churches. I am saddened by their departures, but I know that
we all do not think alike. Although they are in different churches
they all took an oath for life to be Daughters of the King and they
are still apart of the Order.
The only thing I want is for them to be able to come to our assemblies
and retreats so that they can pray, sing and worship God with us
as Daughters of the King.
In our National Order of the Daughters of the King we have Anglicans,
Roman Catholics, and Lutherans. When we gather, we gather in the
name of the Lord and we work for mankind. I pray that you will find
it in your heart and give us your blessing to let us meet as National
does- meet as Daughters of the King, Children of God who want to
pray,
serve, and evangelize. This is all I want us to do. We have no hidden
agenda, and politics have always been forbidden. Please consider
us and give us your blessing to meet as one body.
Your Servant in Christ and
For His Sake,
Metro L. Griffith
