DOK Elected Officer Job Descriptions
(Revised 3/3/05)

President

  • Oversee all activities in the Diocese – conduct regular board meetings.
  • Attend and lead all Assemblies and Retreats.
  • Select leadership for non-elected board positions.
  • Install new Senior and Junior Daughter chapters throughout the Diocese.
  • Review and approve all website content.
  • Write monthly message for the President’s corner on the website.
  • Select speakers for all Diocese sponsored events (Assemblies and Retreat).
  • Organize and host annual President’s Luncheon.
  • Serve as member of the Province IV board and liaison to the National Office.
  • Attend two Province IV board meetings per year, January and October.
  • Assist chapter Presidents with all questions and concerns regarding membership in The order of the Daughters of the King
  • E-mail and internet access necessary for this position.

1st Vice President – Assemblies and Retreats

  • Coordinate the Winter Retreat details including registration, room assignments, music, and check-in. Serve as liaison with Camp Weed.
  • Coordinate all spring and Fall Assembly details with hosting chapters.
  •  Attend all Assemblies and Retreats.
  • In the President’s absence, oversee meetings, install new chapters and represent Diocese to National Office and Province IV.
  • Attend all Retreats and Assemblies.
  • E-mail and internet access important for this position.

2nd Vice President- New Chapter Training and Historian

  • Help President make presentations to churches for prospective chapters.

  • Coordinate a training calendar with interested women in the church.  The training should take 10 to 12 weeks in order to build the chapter into a cohesive, bonded group. 

  • Ask different Daughters to help train new chapters by leading one of the studies. 

  • With the help of the President, select a training coordinator(s) for the other geographic locations.

  • Be present when possible at the installation of new chapters or newly installed individual Daughters.

  • Act as an advisor to help those who train new Daughters in existing chapters.

  • Attend Assemblies and Retreats, take pictures and maintain scrapbooks and send copies to the Web-minister. (Picture taking may be assigned to another Daughter.

  • Collect memorabilia from Chapters and include in the scrapbooks.

  • E-mail and internet access important for this position.

Secretary

  • Attend regular board meetings and take minutes.  Distribute approved minutes to board members via e-mail.
  • Attend Assemblies, Retreats and President's luncheon. Take minutes if necessary, distribute to presidents and board.
  • Communicate pertinent announcements to Chapter Presidents and board via e-mail, website and packets handed out at Assemblies and Retreats.
  • Maintain current e-mail address for each chapter, typically the Chapter President or Secretary.  Each chapter encouraged to communicate via-email.
  • Maintain current Chapter President's Roster. Remind chapter presidents to report (to Diocesan Secretary, Diocesan President and National office) officer changes.
  • Distribute new Chapter President's Roster and Board Roster at least once a year so members may have current information. Report changes of chapter president to web-minister for website updating.
  • Maintain Diocesan Secretary Notebook with current information and minutes of all meetings held.
  • Strong computer skills and e-mail access necessary for this position.

Treasurer

  • Opens and maintains a DOK checking account.
  • Responsible for the receipt and disbursement of all DOK funds.
    • Dues checks from the National Office

    • Income and expenses associated with the Winter Retreat

    • Reimbursements of approved officer expenses (mileage, postage etc)

  • Attends assemblies and retreats, counts love offering, writes check to the recipient and deposits the funds in the account the next business day.
  • Keeps accurate records and provides regular updates to the DOK President and board.
  • Financial background helpful for this position.
  • E-mail and internet access important for this position.
